Washington, D.C. – On March 11, 2025, Congressman Darin LaHood (IL-16) joined Congressional Soccer Caucus Co-Chairs, Representatives Rick Larson (WA-02), Kathy Castor (FL-14), and Don Bacon (NE-02), in issuing the following statement supporting President Trump’s creation of a White House Task Force on the FIFA World Cup 2026.

“As bipartisan co-chairs of the Congressional Soccer Caucus, we welcome President Trump’s creation of a World Cup Task Force,” said Reps. LaHood, Larson, Castor, and Bacon.

Washington, D.C. – On Wednesday, December 11, 2024, the FIFA World Cup 2026 Commemorative Coin Act led by U.S. Representatives Darin LaHood (R-IL-16), Rick Larsen (D-WA-02), Don Bacon (R-NE-02), and Kathy Castor (D-FL-14), was signed into law. Under this legislation, the Department of the Treasury will now mint coins in commemoration of the FIFA World Cup 2026 at no cost to taxpayers. All proceeds from this process will support soccer programs in the United States, specifically aiding youth programs and programs for underserved communities.

Washington, D.C. – On September 17, 2024, The U.S. House passed U.S. Representatives Darin LaHood (R-IL-16), Rick Larsen (D-WA-02), Don Bacon (R-NE-02), and Kath Castor's (D-FL-14) H.R. 7438, the FIFA World Cup 2026 Commemorative Coin Act by a voice vote. The legislation, which was introduced by the Co-Chairs of the Congressional Soccer Caucus, will aid World Cup legacy programs aimed at advancing youth engagement in soccer in disadvantaged and underserved communities.

Washington, D.C. – On January 18, 2024, the Co-Chairs of the Congressional Soccer Caucus and other members of Congress announced they will introduce a bipartisan, bicameral concurrent resolution in support of the United States Soccer Federation's bid for the 2027 FIFA Women's World Cup, which would be hosted jointly by the United States and Mexico.
